تعتبر ظاهرة التصحر من بين المشاكل البيئية العالمية التي من المتوقع أن تؤدي مستقبلا إلى زوال ثلثي الأراضي الزراعية في المناطق الجافة في العالم حسب تقرير الصندوق العالمي للبيئة. فهذه الورقة البحثية ستتناول مفهومي التصحر والتغيرات المناخية كأهم التحديات العالمية التي لها آثار وخيمة على السلامة البيئية والأمن الغذائي والاستقرار السياسي و الاجتماعي والاقتصادي وكذا التنمية المستدامة وتبيان أهم الاستراتيجيات التي من شأنها الحد من هذه المشكلة البيئية. كما توصلت إلى توضيح أن سياسة مكافحة التصحر جزء من السياسة البيئية للدولة.
The phenomenon of desertification is among the global environmental problems that are expected to lead to the disappearance of two-thirds of the agricultural lands in the world's dry areas, according to the Global Environment Fund report. This research paper will address the concepts of desertification and climate change as the most important global challenges that have dire effects on environmental safety, food security, political, social and economic stability, as well as sustainable development and outline the most important strategies that will reduce this environmental problem. It also reached to clarify that the policy of combating desertification is part of the country's environmental policy.
