dc.description.abstractThis article aims to explain how elections misemployment as a constructive tool for competing for power and peacefully managing political conflicts leads to failed democratization. Through reviewing the Kenyan experience, the researcher will spotlight the elite's abuse of electoral rules and institutions and the relationship with Kenya's democratic deficit, although it has started its transition path since the 1990s. The importance of this article is that it will contribute from the use of a modern analytical framework, ''electoral despotism'', to attain a scientific and objective understanding of the deviance that has affected the employment of elections, which, having been a mechanism for moving to a supposedly more democratic system, has become a mechanism for consolidating the autocracy. تهدف هذه المقالة إلى تفسير سوء توظيف الانتخابات كأداة بناءة لتنافس على السلطة وإدارة الصراعات السياسية سلميا، وكيف يقود ذلك إلى الدمقرطة الفاشلة، فمن خلال استعراض التجربة الكينية سيسلط الباحث الضوء على إساءة استخدام النخب للقواعد والمؤسسات الانتخابية وعلاقة ذلك بالعجز الديموقراطي الذي تعاني منه كينيا رغم أنها استهلت مسارها الانتقالي منذ تسعينات القرن الماضي. وتكمن أهمية هذه المقالة في أنها ستساهم انطلاقا من توظيف إطار تحليلي حديث هو "التسلطية الانتخابية" في تحقيق فهم علمي وموضوعي للانحراف الذي مس توظيف الانتخابات، فبعد أن كانت آلية للانتقال لنظام يفترض أن يكون أكثر ديموقراطية، تحولت إلى آلية لترسيخ النظام التسلطي
